It was her birthday present. I’m not really into Sarah McLachlan, but, she makes pretty music and still has a great voice after thirty years performing. What I saw? A Gretsch white falcon she played, which is about as big as Sarah McLachlan herself. These things sound real real good. The gold bits reflected everything. A real showpiece.
[I embiginned this....how? am I a mod?]
Also on display was Sarahs gun collection. I had no idea she could lift, bro, but from the back of the theatre, we could tell she has been doing some serious upper body weight work. Every day is arm day! Her tour bus must have a full gym on board. Good for her. I can’t imagine thirty years of performing on tour food without doing something about it.
Overall, a real chill show, great mix of chill people, and a good time to appreciate great talent. Her, a piano, guitars, a very talented guitar/cello/vocalist backup. Nicely minimalist. I didn’t feel anything was missing.
Take your wife/girlfriend/yourself/significant-other if interested.
Musiclopnik score : yeah, good.

I’m not able to appreciate that instrument fully, but I love musical instruments generally, and there’s a warm, buttery sound to hollow-bodied electric guitars and old school analog pick-ups.

Took Mrs. Grind to a concert last night, and what did I see?
Second base, as always.

Agreed. She only played it twice and it was really smooth. She picked the guitar to compliment the song’s mood and voice. A musician.

It’s a beautiful thing to behold, for sure.

A big Gretsch makes Brian Setzer look tiny (he ain’t big anyway) so I can imagine how Sarah McLachlan looks, but like I said on another post, I love the sound of a big hollow body be it Gibson, Gretsch or some other brand. It’s just so rock&roll.

I’ve wanted one since hearing “She Sells Sanctuary” by T he Cult. Billy Duffy actually named that guitar ‘Sanctuary’, and now he has his own model made by Gretsch.
Also looks good in Cadillac Green.

did she play “arms of an angel” with sad puppies and kitties in the background?

lol, You know she told them to quit using her music, right?
anyway, no puppies or sad kittnes were found at this concert. Her demographic however is aging up quite a bit.

I saw the guitar and was like “Brian Setzer?” :D
You spent half this thread building a mystery.

I think so. Let me check on this one....

Ok, aparently she didnt tell them to quit. I thought she did, but it really gained her another fan base segment and raised aspca $30m in short time.
She did change the channel she the commercial came on though, yeah it’s her but it’ s too sad for even her to watch she says.
I liked that about the concert. She was self-depricating about her slow sad songs. Kept it fun.

Also good on a White Falcon - Billy Duffy.

I can only think of one other musician who plays a White Falcon; Billy Duffy from The Cult . Which is a shame as it’s a great guitar. I have an Epi ES-175 and love it for its old-school jazzbox tone, but roll up the gain and it barks.

I know nothing about actually playing guitars, but I saw Reverend Horton H
eat last night and Jim Heath plays a Gretsch of some sort and it sounded In-Fucking-Credible as always.
